The list of changes that have been discovered in Undertale v1.001 have been moved to the changelog article. The remainder of this post will remain here, only for archival purposes.
Toby Fox recently announced beta testing for the bugfix patch for Undertale on Twitter, so here's an announcement of just that. You can only participate if you have the Steam version of Undertale. If you have the Steam version and would like to participate, follow the instructions in this image.
The Steam version of Undertale v1.001 has been updated to fix bugs and increase compatibility. If this causes the game to not work for you, then revert to the old version. The DRM-free builds have now been updated, either find the original download link given to you or use the resender.
I've found another fix. You can't get the pacifist ending at LV 14 by killing things in the core anymore. The NPC shadow looking guys appear after getting the call instead of the letter. Killing things before recieving the call will prevent the call from happening.
It also has spelling corrections and neater code in the STRG.txt file, as well as new Burgerpants dialogue (involving the Nice Cream guy), and a tiny bit of new Papyrus dialogue.
I was hard for me to get a perfect shot, but the placement is visibly different. They're more stacked, instead of lined up. Small change, but a change.
When picking on Loox, his attacks actually become harder. Though I don't know whether this was part of the update, or it was there before. Either way I added it to his page.
Checking a drawer in Sans's Workshop mentions something else.
This text will ONLY appear if flag 279 (Interacted with Clamgirl) is set to true. This means that unless you have talked to Clamgirl, you'll only get the old text.
Fun values are still in my data, from what I can tell. Maybe it has to do with manipulating it? Or maybe the interactions were removed?Â
Capital "Fun" does nothing now, and was fixed so that those values do things as lowercase "fun". Basically, the capital "F" was a bug that Toby fixed. It means Gaster can now happen on a non-edited save file.

I think my sources are incorrect but apparently you can go to the room if the mysteryman NPC (and the hallway that leads to the NPC) in this patch. In iFunny I saw a image that said that it's available to access without editing the fun value and there were comments saying that too in Tumblr and Youtube. I don't really know if this is correct because I haven't been able to play Undertale lately so.
EDIT: Nvm, didn't know there were comments before mine that talked about this.
Does Steam update the game automatically? Just curious, because Undertale is my first steam game.
As a basic rule of thumb, if when you start up your game you see the Undertale screen before the opening cutscene, your game updated in the recent update.
Only one question. The "LV 14 Pacifist" glitch in the CORE, could you explain me that glich? It's the first time I heard about it.
There used to be a glitch in which you would be able to go back into the CORE after befriending Alphys, get encounters, and be able to obtain LV. By the end of it, one could be LV 14 and still obtain the True Pacifist Ending.
No! That is incorrect. You have to kill the encounters in the CORE far before befriending Alphys. You return to the CORE immediately after receiving the phone call from Undyne. Taking the letter from her disables the encounters.
I believe I've found another bug fix. If you start of Undertale from steam, it'll activate the game and load up UNDERTALE leading brand software. Before the patch, if you pinned it to your taskbar and clicked on it to open it, it would crash. Now, opening it will allow the game to start up, allowing you to save time from opening up Steam, locating Undertale, and then opening it.
TL;DR: You can now pin UNDERTALE Leading Brand Software to your Windows taskbar.

Huh, that's strange. I've always had it pinned to my taskbar, since I could never get the game to directly open in Steam, and it's worked just fine.
Most people agree that Undertale ought to be rated T if it had to have an ESRB rating, though... It gets pretty dark in geno, with possible blood at one point. Plus some pretty often use of hell, damn, and piss words. The only ending which would not scare the pants off of a five year old sufficiently enough to mark it as not for little kids would be the pacifist one... which you need to see Photoshop Flowey to get.

there are some innuendo in the game phone calls, too, when you use papyrus's phone in the place where you encountered undyne the first time (after befriending undyne) she will say "if it wasnt for that grass,i would have kicked your...uh,if it wasnt for that grooty,i would have kicked your booty!" when you call the phone again, she will say "dont ask me what a grooty is!".
its pretty clear she was gonna say "if it wasnt for that grass,i would have kicked your ass."

I'm not datamining or speedrunning, but I'm halfway through a pacifist route because Sans keeps calling me out on life choices and even Flowey left me to my own devices for doing too many Neutral runs ;u;
I'll let you know if there are any changes to our lil' goat boy by the end of the day.

Dig around for anything different on your play through.

WE WILL SAVE THE GOATBABY!
Hello again!
Sorry I ended up taking a bit longer than I intended on. I got a bit sidetracked, cataloguing some dialogue in the True Lab ^^" (nothing that was any different there, but I never noticed the dynamic changes in each individual text and felt the need to go through it more thoroughly).
As for Goat Baby, there are no current changes to his initial encounter, or any of his dialogue. I even went back into again after using up his ruins dialogue and got the "Don't you have anything better to do?" text as per ususal. In the morning I'll go back through and talk to everyone to see if there's anything in their dialogues that may relate (my fun values lined up to get the interaction with the clam monster who talks about Suzy, so I'll especially make sure to speak with them, since there has already been new data found in relation to that value).
Maybe next update. whycantisavemypreciouscinnamonbunbaby?
There wasn't much of any difference in the dialogue the rest of the way through.Â
But if I may suggest, the Clam Girl NPC's final dialogue makes a fine response to what you're hoping for:
"So you never met my neighbor's daughter. Don't despair. This world has infinite opportunities. But there's a limit to the things you can do today. Accepting this is healthy. Take my neighbor's blessing! And consider this blessing for anything you like!"
Take that with whatever grain of salt you so choose, but I tend to take "met my neighbor's daughter" as a miscellaneous statement that you can fill with anything you wanted to do but was unable :)
-You not longer get the ":)" when you get an encounter in a Genocide Run. It will only "!", like in the other Routes.
If this is true, that's rather disappointing. Â It was a nice touch, and I see no reason to remove it. Â Also, would like to get some confirmations if possible.
I certainly hope that isn't the case. It's such a nice add-on. It wouldn't make sense for your character to be surprised by an encounter, after all, because on genocide you're physically seeking them out.
I've seen that the Papyrus battle has some sequence changed before the Special attack. It's not the same as it used to be. After doing it at lot on V1.0, I can tell the difference.
Also, Alphys' bathroom sign and "Bathroom elevator door" have been switch. The sign is now seen first before the door.
Meanwhile, at least on Hard Mode, the genocide encounters was changed from a smiley face to an exclaimation mark (I won't be able to check an actual route for another few weeks, since my friend will be playing on my computer and I want her to actually be able to choose her name). Such a darned shame. The smiley face was a nice, creepy motif.
Reminder that this is a thread for the discussion of the update build, not what names the fallen humans can be given to bring up dialogue that's honestly only funny once.

The smiley face only appears after you've genocided through Snowdin and entered Waterfall.

Huh, interesting. Good thing it's still there at least ^^ It used to appear in the ruins too (again, in Hard Mode. I still haven't initiated a genocide run on my main game). Perhaps they reset it to be more of a halfway point?

That makes sense, because I aborted my Genocide Run at Papyrus (I wanted to see his dialogue), so I wouldn't be able to check far away from Snowdin.
