First Floor[]

Clam Guy[]

This clam-headed monster talks about how he came to Hotland from Waterfall specifically to get a drink. He comments if the protagonist carries a glass of water[1] and if they dump a few glasses of, or all of the water on the ground.[2][3]

If the protagonist poured all of the water out of the cooler and dropped it, he talks about how there is now a "private pool" and says worse things have happened.

Business Dudes[]

These dragon and wisp-like monsters are glad that the reactivated puzzles are preventing them from progressing, as they do not want to work. They are also fans of Mettaton's show. If Mettaton is killed, the dragon-like monster says that's OK since it's CGI for him, and the wisp-like monster says that Mettaton's fanclub double-sized after that last episode.

Fox Head[]

This monster speaks in dialogue ending with a question or a question mark. They complain that their co-workers are not helping them with the reactivated puzzles. If Mettaton is killed, they wonder if they should stop working.

Fuku Fire[]

This monster was once trapped behind the laser on the west side of the first steam puzzle room. She shows relief over the fact that the laser is disabled since they have been trapped there since the lasers were activated. She shows a resemblance to Grillby, but nothing in-game connects her other than appearances. If Mettaton is killed, she questions the point of "loitering around."

Skateboard Girl[]

Upon being freed, this monster talks about how she believes that school has to be canceled due to the reactivated puzzles. If spoken to twice, she realizes school was on break anyway. She expresses a dislike for school and takes every opportunity to say that it should be canceled. If Mettaton is killed, she questions why they need to go to school since the "world's got no future."

Second Floor[]

Heats Flamesman[]

Heats Flamesman tarot

Heats Flamesman's official tarot card as Major Arcana XX, "Judgement". Note the name is wrong.

Heats Flamesman is a small, flame-headed monster encountered in Hotland. Upon first meeting him, he tells the protagonist to remember his name.

He is later encountered on the third floor to the right of the room before the MTT Resort. Whether the protagonist tells him that they remember or not, he puts on a flabbergasted expression and remark that he was easily defeated. Speaking to him again after the protagonist tells him that they remembered his name earns the response "I'll always remember that you remembered!" Likewise, if the protagonist forgot he responds "I'll never forget that you forgot!" If Mettaton is killed, he becomes absent from there.

At the end of the True Pacifist Route, Flamesman can be still found, but this time having a different dialogue. He asks, still astonished, "What? Do you want a rematch?"

Hot Dog Harpy[]

This monster is seen near Sans's illegal Hot Dog stand. She comments on the fact that he has not cleaned the snow off of the roof of his Hot Dog stand, and deems it a result of his laziness. Sans disappears from his stand once he appears in the Last Corridor, and the Hot Dog Harpy notices his absence despite the fact that his stuff is still there.

Hot Dog Vulkin[]

This Vulkin can be seen near Sans's illegal Hot Dog stand. It expresses joy over having obtained a Hot Dog.

At the end of the True Pacifist Route, Vulkin can be found at the beginning of Mettaton's Multicolor Tile Puzzle. Interacting yields the following dialogue: "Hooray! Surface world will have so many new friends to help!!!"

Mice[]

Mice are a group of unseen rodents that reside inside of holes found near certain SAVE Points. While these characters are never seen, interacting with the hole that they reside in prompts a squeak. In each region, their hole is closely located to some sort of food item. The hope that the mice will eat said food items fills the protagonist with determination. This area contains a table with a safe on it. The mouse hole can be found right next to this table on the right side. The dialogue reveals that the safe has melted the cheese inside, causing it to be stuck to the table. In the True Pacifist Route, the mouse somehow managed to "hack" the safe and free the cheese inside.

Third Floor[]

Scared Donut Guy[]

This monster was convinced by Muffet to buy one of her spider pastries and ended up spending all of his money. He resolves to not buy anything from spiders while on the surface in the True Pacifist Route ending. One of W. D. Gaster's followers resembles him. If Mettaton is killed, he just becomes speechless.

He reappears in Deltarune as an NPC in Hometown.

Diamond Boys[]

These monsters only appear after the protagonist solves the northern puzzle on the third floor of Hotland. They are fans of Mettaton who talk about their favorite moments of his show. What they say are actually hints at what to do to gain ratings in Mettaton's boss fight. In the True Pacifist epilogue, the purple one expresses interest in getting a "sick skateboard", while the green one is excited at the prospect of watching other kinds of television before presuming that none of them are as good as Mettaton's show. One of them can be seen watching Mettaton's stage show in the True Pacifist Ending Credits. They both feel sad if Mettaton is killed.[4]

Dress Lion[]

This lion-like monster is a big fan of Mettaton, admiring his talent. In a True Pacifist ending, Mettaton gives them his dress. They can be seen at the end of the True Pacifist Ending Credits watching Mettaton's stage show. If Mettaton is killed, they feel discouraged about something and will not want to talk to the protagonist.[4]

Gaster's Followers[]

Gaster's Followers are particular NPCs that only appear with specific fun values. These NPCs appear to be grey and grotesque versions of other NPCs found in the area. Their dialogue revolves around telling the story of W. D. Gaster, the former royal scientist before Alphys. After talking to them, they will vanish.

Gaster Follower 1[]

Gaster Follower 1 (spr_g_follower_1) has a 50% chance to appear outside of elevator L3 if the fun value is 62. This follower is a gray, emotionless version of the ficus licker NPC. They have a double cross on their chest instead of four dots and talk about how Gaster's life was cut short after he fell into one of his creations. They later wonder if Alphys will end up the same way as Gaster. This NPC disappears once the protagonist leaves the room.

Their dialogue is as follows:

  • It makes sense why ASGORE took so long to hire a new Royal Scientist.
  • After all, the old one... Dr. Gaster. What an act to follow!
  • They say he created the CORE.
  • However, his life... Was cut short.
  • One day, he fell into his creation, and...
  • Will Alphys end up the same way? [Talk again]

Gaster Follower 2[]

Gaster Follower 2 (spr_g_follower_2) has a 20% chance to appear outside of elevator R1 if the fun value is 61. This follower is a gray version of the scared donut guy normally found near Hotland's Spider Bake Sale, with a talking head in place of the donut. This follower speaks in rhymes through the head in their hand. They talk about how the old royal scientist, W. D. Gaster, suddenly vanished without a trace and was shattered across time and space. They immediately disappear once they mention that they are holding a piece of him, playing the same sound effect while disappearing that plays when Mystery Man disappears in Room 268. Unlike Sans, their disappearance does not include a black screen interlude.

Their dialogue is as follows:

  • Alphys might work faster. But the old Royal Scientist, Doctor W.D. Gaster?
  • One day, he vanished without a trace.
  • They say he shattered across time and space.
  • Ha ha... How can I say so without fear?
  • I'm holding a piece of him right here.

Gaster Follower 3[]

Gaster Follower 3 (spr_g_follower_3) has a 50% chance to appear outside of elevator L2 if the fun value is 63. This NPC is a talking face sprouting out of the ground and is its own character, unlike the other followers. They talk about how Gaster's life was cut short after an experiment went wrong. They then stop and mention that they should not gossip about someone who is listening. This NPC disappears once the protagonist leaves the room.

Their dialogue is as follows:

  • I understand why ASGORE waited so long to hire a new Royal Scientist.
  • The previous one... Dr. Gaster.
  • His brilliance was irreplaceable.
  • However, his life... Was cut short.
  • One day, his experiments went wrong, and...
  • [Talk again]
    • Well, I needn't gossip.
    • After all, it's rude to talk about someone who's listening.

The striped bird in Deltarune, a spinoff alternate universe by Toby Fox, appears in the same pose and shape as Follower 3. As the connection between Deltarune and Undertale has been kept vague,[5] the shape of the Follower being that of a sprouted face or the body of the striped bird is currently unknown because of the monochromatic color scheme obscuring the details of the supposed legs and neck.
